Xu Bo and his postgraduate students conducted a random survey of more than 200 teachers and students in some primary and secondary schools in Chengdu. 6~7 of the respondents showed that the shoes they wore were not very comfortable.

Professor Xu said the survey found that the main problems existing in the shoes worn by teachers and students are: they should either clip their feet or wear them too large, or they will suffer from poor warmth, or too hard or too soft.

According to the survey, more than 60% of people wear inappropriate shoes, 21% of them wear shoes shorter than feet, and 40% of them wear shoes badly deformed.

"At present, it is difficult for consumers to buy a pair of shoes that are truly meaningful, mainly due to the lack of standards in the production process," Xu Bo said. At present, there is no relevant index of footwear comfort and safety in China. The existing index is the evaluation of wearability.

The comfort and safety of footwear refer to the different needs of a group of people.

For example, the main function of baby shoes is to keep warm.

At present, many shoe companies in China lack a basis for reference to the size and size of the shoes they produce. Shoes manufacturers need to produce a pair of shoes, most of which are trial production pairs.

But this traditional mode of production brings many disadvantages.

If the shoes produced by Chengdu shoe manufacturers sell to Shanghai and Northeast China, they are not necessarily suitable for local people.

According to the introduction, consumers wearing unfit shoes for a long time can cause flat feet, hallux valgus and so on. Children's unfit shoes will seriously affect the growth of feet and even malformations.

When a company produces a shoe, it does not know how to ensure that shoes can meet the needs of consumers for comfort. More attention is paid to the style, color and durability of shoes.

"We also hope that the national standards for footwear products can have relevant regulations on comfort."

One shoe enterprise official said.

Chengdu quality inspection institute responsible person said that the mechanical analysis of shoes, the relevant technical rules for improving comfort level has been attached importance to by domestic experts and National Standardization Committee, and experts and enterprises have proposed technical reference to increase "comfort" in national standards. If domestic enterprises and experts generally say, "comfort degree" is expected to be included in the national standard.

It is said that there are already some brand shoe manufacturing companies in the country carrying out mechanical analysis on the foot characteristics and exercise stress of different consumers. After sampling through 3D technology, the computer system is input for all aspects analysis, and shoes are designed according to the analysis results.

Prof Xu Bo said he is also drafting a standard opinion on improving the comfort of footwear products and is ready to submit it to the national leather goods department.

He believes that the national standard should include pressure plate test system, insole testing system and other provisions related to comfort and safety.
