Expo Volunteers

Shanghai World Expo has attracted the attention of the whole world since its opening. Up to now, more than 10 million tourists have come to visit it.

In the Expo area of 5.28 square kilometers, thousands of young people are busy every day, distributing maps, directing routes, maintaining order and dealing with emergencies.

They are dressed in green and white uniforms, mostly from Shanghai's Post-80 and post-90s college students. They are called "cabbage" by people.

The "cabbage" is full of spirit and shows the enthusiasm, friendship and self-confidence of the Chinese youth to the tourists all over the world.

They are willing to dedicate themselves, take the courage to play the role of youth, and dress up the Expo as a part of the wonderful memory of the Expo.

In this process, they also experienced the baptism of life and promoted their spiritual realm.

"Our service represents the image of the Expo."

Zhang Bo, senior student of the Environmental College of Tongji University, is standing at Putian West China shipping center square, providing tour guide services for tourists.

When he was on duty, a Chinese tourist asked him how to go to the best practice area in his Chinese language. Zhang Bo indicated the general direction.

After waiting for the tourists to leave, Zhang Bo quickly confirmed to his companion, and found that there was a more convenient way to catch up with the tourists, and breathlessly told the new way.

"Although we can only allow tourists to take a little detour, our service represents the image of World Expo as a whole, and must be professional."

Zhang Bo thought.

The tourists thanked the Chinese cabbage for their warm service.

Aizukrzej Tuniyaz, a volunteer in Xinjiang, has a beautiful face of a typical Xinjiang girl. Many tourists think she is a foreigner. She is very embarrassed to ask. Whenever this time, she will take the initiative to come forward and ask if she needs help and patiently answer.

Ay Zucker Ge said that she should not only reflect the professionalism and enthusiasm of the Expo volunteers, but also show the hospitality of the people of Xinjiang, and her services represent Xinjiang compatriots' support for World Expo.

On the way back to the lounge, Li Jiayue, a volunteer in the green space area, met several anxious granny for help. They were separated from the tour group.

Li Jiayue could not take care of the rest and took them away to find the guide.

Two hours later, she was back in the new round of service.

Many "pakchoi" take the initiative to ask for posts at rest time, and do everything they can to provide convenience for tourists.

Zhang Xiaoye, a volunteer at Fudan University, heard an old man with crutches on the subway saying, "your clothes are the most fashionable in the world."

"Cabbage" describes the feeling of serving the World Expo: "tired and happy", "hard but very happy".

One sentence is plain and simple, but it contains gold quality.

The 62 volunteer badges carry the feelings of the Expo.

What is the most popular among the volunteer groups? With the operation of World Expo for more than a month, the answer has become more and more clear: the badge, a badge designed by the students personally and characteristic, contains the love of Chinese cabbage, the pursuit of quality service, and the embrace of the Expo.

East China Normal University has launched a set of 7 badges, including 2 blue and green school names, "big cake", which respectively contain 4 small chapters of the word "Expo volunteer" and 1 mascots with hand holding hands.

The "cabbage" of all the teams and groups in the area have given full play to intelligence and ingenuity, and personally designed the badge: the Green Park volunteers outlined a green tree with a simple pen, and the ticketing center volunteers modeled the "ticket" like the Chinese Pavilion.

Fudan University has designed a set of 30 "Tuan Tuan" badges, which symbolize the Communist Youth League and symbolize team spirit.

Every day, the school awards the "Daily Star" 200, and gives the badge as a reward to the outstanding volunteers.

After the end of the service period, Chinese cabbage left up to 62 Expo badges.

Under the impetus of "Chinese cabbage", the "badge culture" spread to the park staff and radiated to the vast number of tourists.

Tongji University has produced a set of 5 "star of the Expo" badges, which are the five major venues of the Expo site. If they are set together, they will be able to create a map of the World Expo.

Besides serving, Chinese cabbage carried out anti smoking propaganda on the square, discouraged smokers from smoking, and gave the Tongji hundred year celebration badge to those who cooperate.

They told visitors: "I hope that you can see this badge after today, think of today's activities, remind you of the" cabbage "advice, and try to smoke less in the future.

Wu Minyu, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee of East China Normal University, said that although the cost of the badge is very low, it is rich in culture and bears the feelings of designers and owners. "Badge culture" is popular among Chinese cabbage, reflecting the positive and healthy life interest of young college students.

"Expo Service treasure" to convey the spirit of volunteering

In a parade, 40 volunteers from Shanghai Customs College were responsible for maintaining order at the scene.

However, the weather was not good. Suddenly, it began to rain before the cruise.

Volunteers held their posts in the rain, and no one left, until they were told to cancel the parade temporarily before they went to seek shelter from the rain.

In the minds of "Chinese cabbage", the task of the World Expo should not be careless.

Stories like this are endless.

During the service period, 2326 volunteer volunteers from the Fudan University were divided into 13 volumes of 37.5 million words.

The post set up, frequently asked questions and answers, reference and explanation, and disposal methods of emergencies are introduced in detail, which can be called a "World Service treasure".

Gao Tian, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee of Fudan University, said: "the Chinese cabbage almost used all the time outside the post service in this" treasure house ", and many of the sketching drawings were painted by hand.

On the last day of the half month's service, Fudan "cabbage" presented a total of 578 pages of handbooks to the volunteers of Huadong Normal University to replace them, and sent them to the World Expo Bureau to make the most of their efforts to improve the service level of the park.

None of the 1095 city site volunteers at Fudan University lost their jobs. 2244 volunteers from East China Normal University were in the park for half a month. All the volunteers completed their services except one student who had recuperation because of a bone fracture.

Yu Xiaolin, a volunteer at Tongji University, said: "when we put on this dress, we have the mission we must undertake."

"We will continue our efforts at the new starting point".

After spending a few days before entering the park, many volunteers had emotional fluctuations, or felt wronged because of misunderstanding, or felt lonely because of the few tourists at night.

They encouraged each other to examine the significance of serving the Expo, and gradually discovered the importance of volunteers' mission and brace themselves up in exhaustion.

"Chinese cabbage" people say, although sometimes there is no tourists to ask for a long time, but every post is indispensable, "you stand there, it will give the tourists in need of more peace of mind, can better handle emergencies."

Sun Peiye, a volunteer, wrote a letter and attached a poem: "wearing a jade dress, it is no harm to be exhausted."

She said that in the past, she was always nurturing at home. "But now it is different. My labor and contribution are helpful to others and good for the society."

Because they serve the Expo experience, they know more about empathy.

When they get on the bus, the boys give up their seats to the girls. After a day's service, they will gather patiently. They will be waiting patiently for their teammates who come home late because of unexpected tasks. They know that the driver of the "vegetable cart" driver is very hard-working, and he has prepared a gift for the autograph of the whole car.

After leaving the service of the Expo, "Chinese cabbage" believe that this is not the end, ready to bring the concept of volunteering into life and carry forward.

"After this service is over, I will take it as a milestone and continue to work at the new starting point," said Ji Huiming, a volunteer at the Tongji University.
